Tanner's Florida, 1833

Tanner's Florida, 1833

$25.00

Dating back more than 180 years, this hand-colored map includes milage charts between destinations (by water route) and features insets of Pensacola, Tallahassee and St. Augustine. Canals, railroad lines and prominent roads are detailed.

The profile of the state has changed little through the decades and points such as Cape Canaveral, Cedar Key, Captiva Island and Matanzas Inlet are readily identifiable. Place like Miami and Orlando had yet to be developed to the point of recognition.

Originally created by publisher H.S. Tanner of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Reproduced via high-resolution scans of the original 1833 document. Measures 16 x 20 inches, horizontal. Printed on fine art quality paper with a matte finish. Source: State Library of Florida.
